Nice designs......but a bit modern for the vast majority of current modelers. The power plant is modern but still fits in older layouts......but anything newer looking might be a hard sell. Just IMHO only.
These could work if it had a 1960's to 1980's look.
Good Day,
My thinking ………….. structures presenting a 21st Century appearance will sell very well. Why? Look at all the 21st Century diesels locomotives and rolling stock being offered now days. We need some modern buildings to go with our modern day engines and rolling stock!
I agree, structures from the 60’s to 80’s would sell very well too!
Best Regards,
Swafford
If these were priced to sell, they would sale like hot cakes.
I am for the modern look. I will take a Sinclair distribution center ASAP. Most of my layout is set up for the modern look big GE locomotive, 50ft box cars, etc. Yes, I thing these will have appeal to most of us.
I am not saying there is no modern modelers........but per a survey by another publishing company the vast majority of modelers model 1960 or before.
Many of these modern designs are so easy to build yourself if I was footing the bills (ie risk taker) I could not commit.
This is the same test we have to use in our plastic kit biz.....would you risk YOUR money???
I agree with Swafford and Sutter. These would be sell outs. The modern era buildings are under served in today's o scale world from my vantage point.
Swafford is right on with the Pepsi building. Since they already have the trucks made, there surely is a marketing document in place that would facilitate future offerings or one can be drafted quickly. Heck, even if they just put the Menards name on it people could make good use of it as is or kit bash it and add their own signs. How about selling it like the engine houses and include several signs? They already sell Menards, Army, Pepsi, Mountain Dew and Lennox trucks. How about those signs?
So many awesome possibilities!!!!
Thanks Swafford for starting the discussion!!!
And Jack the Dog could be the watch dog!
