The sounds in that engine are unbelievable. I have the 2006 version and its sounds pail in comparison.
Nice Set!
"super nice,i need one in standard gauge !! terry
Very nice looking set. Really beautiful, It was great to hear PS3 sounds are really nice.
Alex
Beautiful engine! I have one, but haven't had a chance to get it on the tracks yet. Am really looking forward to it.
I have the Williams set but now wish I would hve spent the money for the MTH
RW
Nice.
Wow, those sounds are great!
I agree, thats more like what I would have expected from PS3, enjoy Gromet!
Gromet,
Have you tried the quillable whistle feature yet on that engine? Check it if you haven't yet; a very impressive feature!
Steve
Very cool. Love that whistle!
Beautiful set Gromet - thanks for posting.
You must get busy on the scenery as the pink and blue are straining our credibility! Ha!
Your layout looks great and should be very nice when 'finished'....
Very nice, the AT&SF Blue Goose has always been one of my favorite steamers. The steamer sounds were exceptional.
One sharp-looking locomotive and passenger set. Enjoy!!! Now keep an eye out for some of the add-on cars. The full-dome vista's are pretty much gone unless you find one staring back at you on the shelf of a train shop that has no web presence. But that's the fun of hunting for stuff like that!!!
David
Gromet,
Yes, I also hoping that MTH will rework their remote to include a sliding switch, similar to Lionel's Legacy remote, to activate the quillable whistle feature.
Guys, if you do get an engine that has this feature be careful. When one activates this feature, speed control using the thumb wheel is lost for the time that the quillable feature is in use!
Steve
This is a beautiful locomotive and passenger car set. It looks as though the paint is very glossy. Does that look as good in person as in the video? I'm not sure if it is realistic, but it surely looks good as a model.
You just can't beat MTH engines for realistic slow starts.
Beautiful engine. I added the PS2 version to my Art Deco fleet last Spring. It's still in the box. I need to get it out and on the layout.
Outstanding engine, thank you for the video! It's been a long while since I've purchased an engine and I'm thinking this one is going on the short list. Your layout looks very interesting, way to go. I wish I would have started mine when our boys were young but just didn't have the resources or time, I waited until they were gone and I retired
Nice engine indeed. Ditto on your comment regarding productivity on a layout when you have little ones. I have a 2 yr old son, a 1 yr old son, and a baby girl due in June. I am doing the best I can to finish scenery befor she's born but I take 1 step forward andusually 2 back. Progress is slow for me.
Congratulations and take your time! As long as your trains depart on schedule the scenery can be late :-) time with your babies is far more important as we both already know.
Where did you buy the engine and are you happy with the price you paid?
OGaugedreamer, Msrp for the set is $1,199.00. The set was purchased as a gift from my father. He paid $1,075.00 out the door. He said it was purchased from a small LHS and it was their last set. I think the price he paid was good and I think the set is well worth the price. It's gorgeous!
Someone commented that these (and other) sets by MTH often are offered for a mere $100 over what the locomotive retails for alone. If true when you find the set go for it!
Nice video and layout!!
Nice! Love the sounds...
That is a real sharp looking set, and the sounds are awesome. Have fun with it.

That's a beautiful set, Gromet!! I'm really hoping that Lionel gets with the program and makes this set as well. I'm surprised they haven't. If they did, it would fly off the shelves. I would love to have it on my roster.
Blue liner, Why not go with the MTH version? Besides the fact that MTH hit the nail on the head with this set, amazing sound, quillable whistle, amazing detail... I'm quite sure it would be double the price if Lionel put out a similar set.

Gromet, I wouldn't mind owning the MTH set but I want to stay with one control system and not dive into another as well. I own all Lionel engines and the Legacy system, except for the 2 MTH Gold Millennium sets which are display pieces at this time. It sure is a great-looking set though. Enjoy your set. It looks awesome!!
