Lionel has sent the GCT email out again. Twice.
Let's hear it for Lionel's new management team!! An honest mistake was made, they listened, identified the issue, and made it right. Check out the ad with correct picture:
To take advantage of this offer you have to belong to the Lionel Railroader Club.

That does it for me in regards to this new product offering from Lionel - it's going to be a winner!
Happy Tracks,

well, FWIW, i have compared the original email, Dorcies's posting of artist's rendition and the new email and...
i can't tell the difference.
so, either they used the right image in the first place or the new one is a very close, albeit smaller, reproduction of the original.
it is all good.
Pre-ordered it from Nassau....
Yup. Appears to be the same image in the two emails. But the catalog picture is definitely different.
Looking forward to receiving mine.
Original email image on left, latest on right. Catalog picture bwloe.
My initial reaction was that it looked the same, but I think the width between the doors was a little less(but very hard to tell).
Any reports on the status
What scale is this structure? S Scale? HO Scale?
I believe it is compressed "O".....but, it looks better suited for HO.
Either way, I ordered one, as my plan is to set it in the distance as an illusion to increase distance.
I will post as soon as I hear. BTW we still have a few left at pre-order pricing on our web site.
The new Lionel/TW Design Grand Central is no where near O scale. In fact the previously released Lionel/TW Grand Central from a few years ago was much larger and it was no where near O scale. In O scale the concourse alone would be almost 6 ft across the front.
But, I ordered one because I believe it will go very well with Department 56 buildings, especially the "Christmas In The City" village.
Any shipping updates? Hate for it to miss the Christmas Layout!
I'll ask Skips question again: Any updates on the shipping for this item?
Thank you.
Paul
Alas, this is the price we pay for our chosen scale. If the bulk of our buildings were to scale, we'd need 20,000 square foot warehouses for our layouts if we wanted to include a major depot. San Bernardino Depot would be over 11 feet long; Redlands Depot would be close to seven feet long; LA Union Passenger Terminal as-built would be close to 15 feet long and about eight feet deep. Grand Central's main superstructure sits on top of the track area which would make a full-scale model huge.
It is like the Austin Powers movie with Minnie-me. Ffed
if lionel misses delivery 2013 heads should roll in NC! It would me a big blunder for GCS anniversary item to commemorate the real station in the wrong year 2014. Way to go guys at corporate!
how did lionel request shipping from china? A logistics company can get things here air from china in like 3 -5 days. How many cartons are we talking about here? Weight? Or is lionel so cheap they requested ocean freight? Let's get lionel to put up some factual info. When was order ready from china? who makes decisions at lionel on shipping methods. Who make the call on this grand central terminal?
And hey lionel let's get an actual picture of this product if it's ready and shipping. What does it finally look like and how is it packaged.
We are anxiously awaiting word on the arrival of the 101st Anniversary Grand Central Terminal. According to the last report it should be on it's way to us as we speak. Can anyone from Lionel, or any of the dealers confirm this?
OK Lionel LLC Someone get your head out of the sand!
Jerry Calabrese? Howard Hitchcock? Mike Philips? Where is the Grand Central Terminal? Stop playing with NASCAR stuff and pay some thought to the old LIONEL guys here! Does anyone have their e-mail addresses?
Are we ever gonna see this Terminal? How about some facts boys!
Charlie Nassau recently posted that they were due into NC last week or the beginning of this week.

Have you thought about asking them directly at Lionel, instead of hoping one of them sees this thread?
Just got the notice that my GCT is on its way from Lionel..
Will update when it arrives
This is great news that the pipeline on these has opened. 1 down and 2012 to go. Maybe mine will make it here for the last days of the Christmas layout after all.

That's great! Just what I needed, a good excuse to keep the train layout up.
I would like to see a picture of it.
DITTO - Wo ist das foto?
There are a couple of ebay auctions for these. One of the auctions has pictures of the actual unit. Visit ebay and search for "LIONEL 6-37195 GRAND CENTRAL TERMINAL BUILDING TRAIN O SCALE NEW YORK CITY NYC".
WHAT A JOKE! Lionel and the Lionel Store! Be the first to order! And the last to receive! Oh and pay $60.00 more for the exclusive terminal!!! What a fool am I!
Lionel, the Lionel Store and all management really left me in out in the cold!
I never got mine! Ordered mine in April 2013 and saw all the dealers had theirs before I did. So I cancelled! They are even on e-bay! Wow way to treat a loyal customer and collector! Lionel team you should all be fired! Thanks for nothing and thanks for getting in touch with me. Gee I only asked about 25 times for someone to contact me from Lionel. Has anyone? No! If you haven't got your terminal you ordered from the lionel store call and cancel and save 60 bucks.
It is against VISA and MasterCard's regulations for a merchant to bill their cards prior to shipping. Yet Thats what the Lionel Store did.
