  Hello everyone,

Dina and I had the privilege to spend the day with Pat and Jean Marinari. What a great day it turned out to be, we also had the privilege of spending time with Gunrunner John and his wife Bobbi. Pat and Jean's home is absolutely beautiful with a backyard view of the Hodgson Valley which is stunning. We arrived around 12 pm and started to chat a bit, I was so anxious to get down the basement to see the layout it must have showed on my face, because Pat said come on lets get downstairs and run some trains. Once i got to the bottom of the stairs and looked around, i was amazed of how beautiful the layout and basement they have.

Fantastic scenery so meticulously done and well thought out. There's so many beautiful scene's as you travel around the entire layout, you must take your time to take it all in. From there Pat took me into his workshop, I couldn't believe my eye's. One of the best workshop's I've ever seen. After spending sometime in the workshop, We went back into the train room and the fun started,

Pat got a few trains running and we enjoyed many hours talking and watching trains travel through his beautiful scene's. We also enjoyed a wonderful meal that Jean prepared, it was delicious. A big thank you to Pat and Jean for a wonderful day.!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks,

Alex & Dina

Gunrunner John will add a very nice video to this thread, also Pat will add a group photo of us

As the pictures speak for themselves Pat & Jean's Hodgson Valley Railroad is spectactular.

The scenery is so meticulous. The computer system running the trains is incredible. I have envied the train running from the ceiling for awhile now. Pat & Jean are wonderful hosts. Glad you all had a wonderful time and thanks for posting all the great pictures Alex.

Pat and I have exchanged a few emails about this some months ago.  Very interesting.  I've only seen Pat's layout by pictures and video, and it always looks better each time. The layout is nothing short of world-class.  Definitely on my "must visit" list.

Thanks for sharing more great photos of this fabulous layout, Alex.

You got that right Marty this layout is a must see for me.  Drop dead gorgeous! Love the standard gauge on the ceiling pat!

Yes, the roundhouse roof is plexiglass - actually my wife's idea to replace the roof that came with the Ross Roundhouse kit with the plexi.

Pat,

That was a great idea that your wife had. At least now your visitors can see the detail inside your roundhouse.

Chris

some day I wish for a basement like this full of train therapy relaxation, flawless running, superb track work, masterpiece scenery.

close the door to the outside world full of problems, listen to the chuffing of steam engines, roar of the diesel engines, bells of the crossing gates, clicky clack of the freight car wheels over the switches, and a Ice Cold Bottle of Yuengling Lauger.

Thanks for the pictures and video of a wonderful basement layout.

Getting a cab ride around the layout was a treat...great video!

I had the good fortune of seeing it go from lumber on the floor to what it is now.

Looks like a good time was had...see you all at York on Thursday.

Best,

Double ditto what Craig said!  It's always a pleasure getting together with Jean and Pat.
