I went to the Great Train Expo at the Pomona fairgrounds this past Saturday. It's been a few years since I attended one of these, how things have changed. The stuff that was being sold seem like the leftovers that  nobody wants. There was a lot of people but very few sellers compared to when it used to be the Great American Train Show.

I'm  not preaching doom and gloom for the hobby. I know that the internet has changed these shows a lot. I remember back when I attended my first show in the late 80s it was two buildings, now it's barely one. The internet has given us more options when buying now but it's kind of sad that the shows lost the excitement that they used to have for me,

Cal-Stewart South is way down from 5-7 years ago, Cal-Stewart North is down to one day, The GTS was certainly smaller in Pomona, but the Feb show in Costa Mesa was still 2 buildings. York is way down from a few years back as I understand it. I still go and enjoy myself. At Pomona, we were the layouts as you walked in the door. Some of the Pomona downturn could be most of us hate the facility, parking and getting in and out to set up.

The public response was great and that makes it worthwhile to go and set up.

I was there on Saturday, found nothing I wanted. Go to the Train shack in Burbank, saw the new Legacy berks. They were nice, plan to get one soon. Go to Portillo’s for Lunch and then Milepost 38. Bought nothing there too. Went home and ordered from Menards. It was a better show this year than last year attendance wisr but not selection wise in my opinion.
