Hello!

I'm new to your forum and would like to ask if anyone knows anything about these Green Madison cars which I found some time ago.  I have spent the last year looking for information about them, but all that I can find is they should have been brown.  I have looked over these cars very closely and can not see where they would have been repainted.  The lettering is all heat stamped which makes me believe they are the real thing from Lionel.  I have see a posting about Green Madison cars on here, but what they were showing is not close to what I have.

Any information would be very helpful as my source for Lionel past away a few years ago here in Portland, OR.

Thank you,
Bruce

Hi All,

I was looking at one of the cars today and a door spring popped loose so I has to fix it.  When I took the end of the car off you can see inside without any issues.  These are not repainted from looking inside or what I would call a armature repaint.  I have attached a photo of the inside of the car.  Also a pic of the car end as removed.  You can see that it is green all around.

Franktrain had a good point to look for a Lionel stamp on the frame, I have not been able to find anything at this point.

Thank you,
Bruce

I believe what you may have is an early Williams repro. Is there any stamping of "Williams" on the frame or the inside roof of the passenger car? Is the body made of a thick grey plastic? The giveaway is the middle flangeless wheels on the three axle truck appears to be plastic. If it's plastic, it could be early Williams. But I see the couplers in your latest photos are the electronic type so those middle wheels could be metal and you may have a genuine Lionel model or one cobbled up from parts in Madison hardware in NYC!
