These display shelves are lit with LED strips. Each shelf has a strip (self adhesive LED strips), and all three shelves on each side are connected to a dimmer. That is plugged into the switched wall outlet so both sides are connected to that wall switch. The display cases are essentially the hall lights (for safety of course ) and the bench work for the lower level track. The half wall (technical term) was already there so we just built the layout over the top of it, and then filled it with GDS shelves. The LEDs were a last minute thing but worked out well. The same LED strips can be used for a variety of applications.

LAIDOFFSICK; that really looks good. What a bright idea, so to speak. Hey, you're not a Santa Fe fan are you?

Several years ago, my wife finally convinced me to close in our deck, using trains as incentive. Well, the trains are there, but only on shelves. To highlight them, I installed LED spots from Harbor Freight. They came in a strip of 4, so I separated them and spaced them evenly along the beam opposite the shelving. I also used frosted glass with LED strips above, not to light the shelves, but more for the effect. At some point, I want to add more lighting for the lower shelves, which were added after the initial lighting project. It really looks cool at night with the lights down in the room, and the LED's lit.

Since the room is made to look like a rustic barn, I used old house planks for the shelves, and to save vertical space, stepped the shelves to showcase two levels at each spacing. I wanted to go lower, but Theresa already hit her head on the bottom tier, so I added shelves around the perimeter on the other three walls near the ceiling. These will also get lighting at some point.

I use strip LED warm white lights. I get them from China. $9.95 for sixteen ft. They can be cut to any length and rewired with small clips from the same company with wire leads. 12 volt DC also the power supply is available for under $4ec53f2f5-6a2b-4236-beb8-171648cf9651. Just cut the length you need peel of the backing strip and stick them to the top of your display. Don
