Has anyone tried and succeeded?

I just went and looked at mine, and it is nothing I'd be brave enough to try.  Looks like they would break off easily.  If you try it and are successful, post pictures.

You have to replace them with something more flexible. One option is to remove them from the pilot, cut the middle sections out and replace the missing pieces with either black wire insulation or heat-shrink tubing. Paint the tips silver and you're done. They'll be flexible enough to slip through the plow. On the newer units, the hoses are more flexible and will slip through the plows.

I have the same engine and am wondering if this is possible. I love the detail on it you just cant beat it for the price with the amount of sound and lighting features and separate detail. If anyone has tried this please let us know.
