I'm perplexed on how to remove this battery. The metal housing has a flange on the top and there is nothing to remove from the bottom to get the blue battery out. I've replaced other PS2 batteries and have not had this issue. Any suggestions? This is a PS2 MTH Premier GP38-2 20-2860-1 Wisconsin Southern.

I believe if you look at the base, you can see the screws holding that battery holder down. Remove those to slide the battery out that end.
Thanks, John. On closer inspection it looks like there is a tiny screw in front of the battery looking down from the top.
You were right, John. Two screws and the housing came right off as you can see. Hard to find the screws attached because of the way the wires were wound in so tight and didn't want to cut or damage a wire. Last time that happened to me on an engine was 6 months ago and it cost me a board and was forced to a PS3 upgrade. Thanks again!

Well, you have to be able to get the battery out without bending stuff, so it was logical. They don't always make it easy, I'll give you that! I wouldn't bother putting the holder back in, just stick the BCR in somewhere.

When I put a BCR2 in a subway set, I removed the holder and just two way taped it to the frame.
Great idea to leave to holder out. That frees up space. I've replaced these before but it has been awhile and I don't remember the wires being packed quite this tightly. Taping it in is a good idea, too. Thanks.
