Hi,

My headlihgt went out on my Railking F59 Diesel engine.  I was planning on getting a new headlight bulb.  I took the top of shell off to make sure I get the right bulb, in the process  I took a voltmeter and was trying to get a reading when I discovered (by mistake) that is I touched a lead to the to orange wire and the black metal lamp holder bracket and the bulb would light???  Obviously didnt want to leave it that way but verified that it will light by making connection (I guess the bracket is ground...)

Now I'm not so sure it's the bulb.  I did recently take the shell off to wipe the winshield from the inside, there is no wires that came off as far as  I can see and everything on this engine works perfectly (except the headlight).  This is a 2002 Engine.

There is a orange wire on the top and a pink wire on the bottom of the bulb connection, both wires lead right to the board and come up in up front.

Has anybody ever had this happen?

Thanks

yikes. The chicken little in me says you just got hit by falling sky. I can't find your manual to look at the part. If you can post a pic of both...

More importantly

contact midge@mth-trains.com  she is the parts person. Give her the info and see if a part exists. If it does, replacement with patience, should be possible.

If it doesn't, there are a number of good repair folks on site. Chuck Sator comes to mind. Hopefully someone can help you

Well the lights and the electronics are fine but the truck is definitely broken, the camera clarifies what my eyes cannot.  It looks like the truck will need to be changed.  The book says the part is $30 w/core charge...

I suppose the nice shiny weel silver skirt doesnt take away from the performance although it reminds me of the guy who drives around with the donut spare on his car for 3 weeks.  Do you think it will come with the gears?

 Here are some pictures.

Thanksnguys, G I think your idea of epoxy may be a good one (and certainly cant hurt even if it doesnt hold...).  I have some JB Weld so I'll give it a try.  I will call Midge tomorrow and see about the truck, I need to order another lamp for our 2003 cat sd90 and traction tires for some of the engines I have.  I really appreciate you all sharing your expertise.

I have some of the MTH fine lubricating oil, do you guys follow the book as far as lubricating points.  I also have some regular automotive white lithium grease, doi need to pull the motors after 50 hours or 1 year as specified in the book?
