Hello! The TLDR is I need someone to look over a modification I made to an engine to see if we can find where I’m messing up.
Despite being a noob to the whole repairs/internal electronics side of the O Gauge hobby, I’ve decided to try to to convert my USRA 0-8-0 into a Garratt locomotive. The escapade is documented in this thread: https://ogrforum.com/...tt-from-a-usra-0-8-0
My plan is/was to place the tender’s electronics on the boiler’s chassis, and extend the previously internal wires inside the engine between the two.I’ve successfully gotten the tender’s tech to work with the engine’s pickups, but now that I’m trying to reassemble the boiler electronics, the engine isn’t working, and I have no clue why. Everyone I’ve talked to agrees that this should be working in theory, which means that there’s some piece of the electrical puzzle I’m missing.
I‘m looking for someone with experience working on the electronics of Lionel engines who would be willing to get on facetime and double-check my work. If you have your own copy of this engine (2003 Lionel USRA 0-8-0), that’d be even better! I’d be willing to tip ~$20 if we can get this to work.
My email is just my username @gmail.com; if you’re willing to help send me an email and let’s try to schedule a time. Thanks!
