Hello Everybody

I hope our moderators don't mind me posting this here but I will try.

Two of our fellow forum members were really hit hard with the flooding in the New York City area. Ironically they are both brothers that live in two of the hardest hit areas.  Greg Orlando lives in Midland Beach Staten Island and his Brother Chris lives in Howard Beach Queens.  Both are New York City Firefighters and are usually the ones that are out there helping others and I believe it might be our time to return the effort.  Both usually post in the Subway section of our forum.

I spoke to Greg on Friday.  He was working when the storm hit and thought his wife was crazy when she called with the situation.  His basement filled with water in a matter of 45 minutes  His first floor had about a foot of water.  He lost two cars, heating system, hot water heater, all their winter clothes, their A/C unit, all his trains that were on an 8x14 layout in the basement, and a long list of things that are now gone.

I have recieved countless emails from people looking to help here but fortunately I don't need any but these two guys can really use our help.

Alex Mallaie has volunteered to accept donations for two of our own train family. Donations can be sent via Gift card , check or money order to Alex at 92 Savo Loop Staten Island New York 10309.

I got blasted too 150 engines, and every piece of rolling stock I own was in my basement, along w/ my layout, all my power and hand tools, washer/dryer, boiler, hot water heater, refrigerator, family photos, all my father's postwar, full HD tv and stereo, furniture and clothing My 1st floor flooded, too. All trains were up two milk crates high. Never in my wildest dreams could i have imagined an eight to twelve foot water surge. All three cars are flooded. Yet hundreds of my neighbors lost everything to fires,. The devastation is unbelieveable

Everyone can send everything to my wife and I, I have the time to take care of all of this. I will document every check money order or gift card with the persons name and I will personally deliver it myself right to them. My wife and I spent most of Saturday with some of these folks who lost everything. We spent most of the day with a lot of tears in our eyes. We helped as much as we could. Here's some photos of what we witnessed. Remember these photos are taken 4 days after, and clean up was going on for three days already. Where you see cement there use to be a home there.

The ocean level came as high as 17 feet and about a 1/4 mile inland. Most of the homes that you see will have to come down because they are not structurally safe.

My wife and I are standing on a friends front and back porch. Now there's another storm headed this way.

mark, are you in breezy point?

Belle Harbor we had house fires leap frogging from home to home, water too deep for the fire trucks to function on arrival, wind whipped embers the size of baseballs.  We lost about 15 houses; Breezy Point lost 107 homes, burnt to the ground.

Good work guys.  Alex, I will put a check in the mail tomorrow!  Maybe we can tide them over till the insurance comes through.  Both my kids live in Manhattan but managed to escape any real problems.  My son and his wife were here for a football game and just stayed the week since their apartment had no electricity on the lower east side.

Our prayers go out to everyone and may God give them the strength, patience and perseverance to overcome.

Let's do it!

I'm posting a RK Allegheny for $225 and will have the buyer send $100 ea to both Ben and Alex. This is a great idea...

My wife and I just want to thank you all so much for your help for these families in need. There will be a detailed list of all the donations received. I will also team up with Ben and personally deliver these donations right in there hands.I will also email each of you as I receive your donation.

THANKS TO ALL OF YOU AND MAY THE LORD BLESS US ALL.

BTW I am very proud of my daughter and grandson who have been bringing food down to the effected area every day.   This is my grandson   I think he ate more than anybody else.

Talk about the "Greatest Generation". Take a look!
