I have tried to follow the directions to use a Lionel LCS AMC2 to control the speed of an Atlas Turntable.  Have attached how it is wired - after programming as directions say, the turntable moves at a constant speed and does not respond to the Cab2 throttle wheel.  I programmed it by selecting ACC, assign a two digit number - press set - press AUX1 then 2 for a variable DC motor.- press PGM switch on AMC2.  then to access I press ACC, AUX1 and the turntable is rotating at a contstant speed - i turn the Throttle wheel counterclockwise - no change in speed.  as i turn the Throttle Wheel there'd lights on the LCS AMC2  blinks rabidly as i turn it - but no change in the turntable speed.  Not sure what i have done wrong - Maybe the LCS AMC2 cant work with the Atlas Turntable?

Help please

Sounds like it is still programmed as a continuous type motor. To test, press the direction button on the Cab2 and see if the turntable will go in the opposite direction. If not, then something else is wrong.

A few things to try:

  • Make sure that the accessory power plugged into the AMC2 is not flipped. I.E. hot and common are where they belong. That can cause damage.
  • Bypass your sensortrack to see if that might be causing an issue
  • try reprogramming the AMC2 to a different ID. Try 1 just to see if it'll take it and work.

There's no reason the Atlas turntable wouldn't be compatible. It's just a DC motor.

Dave - well i checked the wiring - i disconnected the Sensor track and just plugged the cable from CAB2 base directly to AMC2 - i double checked the wiring  red all to + and black all to - when i tun on power to aux transformer output measures 14v ac at the input to the AMC2 - the turntable starts to rotate at a constant speed - i tried programming the AMC2 as an accessory with "1" as ID, then presses AUX1 then pressed 2 for variable DC motor control.  as i did each of these the red light on the AMC2 blinks rapidly and then returns to slowly blinking - i pressed PGM switch and the light goes out - but turntable still rotates - so i then go to ACC press  1 then AUX1 then 1 -  rotating the know causes the red light to blink rapidly but no change in turntable speed.  i tried to press direction button and the red light blinks rapidly when i press it - but there is no change on the turntable - it seems to me that the AMC2 is getting the signal from the Cab2 but it is not changing the output to the turntable.

could the AMC2 be "defective"  i measured 7vdc on output to turntable motor - attached pictures of the AMC2 and the turntable motors connection

i feel very stupid - i must be doing something wrong for something so simpleIMG_2361IMG_2360
