I have a 2-4-1 Mountain Steamer, the French loco in the European series.
I need to remove the loco body and it is not immediately obvious which screws hold the body. Can someone who is an authorized tech please supply me with a drawing or details. I'm in Australia, so returning the loco is not an option. The loco was running, but now has failed. I need to check for loose connectors or pinched wiring to the loco board. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Have you checked MTH's web site for a manual? It should include drawings that would show how to remove the boiler.

Before disassembly, I would advise that you check the plug that attaches to the engine end of the wireless tether and make sure that it is firmly seated. The plug often works loose and the result is a dead engine. The plug is visible under the cab and is easily re-seated with tweezers or needle nose pliers.

Eric is correct. This is a very common problem. Dave, unscrew the screw that secures the drawbar to the engine. The plug Eric talked about plugs into the drawbar at this point. I see this often.
