i am working on a recently acquired 313 Bascule Bridge. I have taken the bridge structure apart to straighten some bends. I also took the gear box apart to clean old grease. I did the continuity checks as recommended in the book by Ray Plummer - Toy Train Repair Made Easy 21 Lionel Postwar Projects and the wafer switch works as described. The motor makes the cam on the output shaft turn as expected.
My question is about this cam that goes on the output shaft of the gear box and that contacts the wafer switch. Mine does not make good contact with the wafer switch to close this switch. I borrowed a picture of this part from an eBay post. There is a hole at the bottom end of this part as shown in this picture. Is there supposed to be something inserted into this hole that would make contact with the wafer switch? There does not seem to be a way to adjust this part so that it makes better contact. Can someone post a picture of this part of their 313 Bascule Bridge? Any suggestions?
