My NYC Mohawk PS2 was always at engine address #4.  I have 3 remotes and 5 engines. Addresses from #'s 1 to 5.  The Mohawk address reads #4 for 2 of the remotes.  When I powered on the problem remote the screen displayed an (L) at upper left for lash-up at 0 mph. No engine was indicated. I shut down, then powered up remote again and the same.  Don't recall if there was an engine name on the display screen but there was the #4.  Function keys were not shown on display.  I never created a lash-up.  Then I went to engine setup, added the engine back to the remote. It took the address #6. Then I used the edit engine address function to change to address #4. The #4 was not to be found which usually happens when that address is occupied. So I deleted that engine from the other 2 remotes and tried again to edit address on the problem remote. Same thing happened...no #4. Deleted on the problem one, added it again and won't take address #4 but went back to #6. Thought I could delete from lashup but didn't work because message appeared "no engine to delete".  The Mohawk works fine as #6. But it's bothering me that I am unable to go back to its former #4 address. Silly I know, But any help is most appreciated. Thanks, Fred

Gregg is correct as to the battery being suspect.  If you start the engine and then cut power to the track, do the sounds run for about 6 seconds?   If not replace the battery.

When one has multiple remotes, I recommend designating one as the remote for adding new engines or changing settings, and then cloning the other remotes from that.  Then you have (1) backup if you ever have to reset a remote; (2) all engine addresses identical; (3) all softkeys identical across all remotes.

Thanks for responses. I set all engines to #6 in all remotes because I discovered the other remotes showed "engine not found" in #4 address.  As for the battery test the remote indicated battery is okay. I also cut power and engine ran about 6 seconds. I'm thinking about resetting engine. What do you think?

I wouldn't, A factory reset will  delete the existing ID number and you'll have to add the engine back to each remote.

A feature reset will save the ID  but why reset the engine if everything is working.

I'm  assuming the engine runs fine  with ID 6 in all remotes.

I'm still not sure what going with ID #4 but ... you can delete  ID 4 if it's still  shows up on the remote.

Did you try resetting the remote.  I thought there was a bug in the DCS system where an address can disappear from the remote (not sure what causes it or if this was fixed in version 6).  The only way to get the address back was to reset the remote and then add your engines again.  If your Mohawk goes back into address 6, then edit it and see if address 4 is available

Hang on LUVTRAINS...You're not going to be able to do a engine reset on all 3 remotes... After the first engine reset the other 2 remotes will no longer be able to find the engine,

However resetting the remotes is a good idea, (I think that's what you mean)  This will give you a clean slate to start over. When adding the engines back, just have one engine at a time powered (the others should be on dead track  or completely off the layout) making sure the engine ID is the same in all remotes.

Luvtrains, if you initate the effort required as a result of resetting all remotes, I suggest:

After resetting, don't add anything.  Use one remote only.  Place one--only one-- loco on track.  Add it.  It should come in with whatever number is in it.  Shut it down and remove it from track.  Do the same with the second engine, it should come in with whatever loco is in it, or if it has the same number as the prior engine, it will come in as the lowest available number.  SHut it down and remove from track.  Then go on to remaining locos.  They should all be in with defferent numbers.  Test them.  Then set all softkeys as you want them, and add switches and accessories.  Then save the remote to your computer using the loader program, and using the restore feature of the software, now clone each of your other remotes.

Thanks RJR, GREGG and all. I will reset the remote and add the engines individually while others are not powered. Then reset the next remote, add engines as previous and then the last remote likewise. I don't use or have DCS computer software, nor do I have switches and accessories working through remote. Switches are Lionel command control and I don't have working accessories yet. But is there another way to clone the remotes rather then do a repetitive process with the remaining 2? Meanwhile I will search Barry's DCS companion and my MTH DCS manual.
