Hi everyone I am looking for help to identify some passenger cars I bought on ebay. I can barely make out a number on the seat insert it looks like 1345. I bought four cars three of them were painted. The one that is not painted appears to be almost chromed. It might be hard to tell from the photos.I also sent posted a picture of the one that was painted orange.I started to remove some of the orange paint and that one also appears to be chromed.I think they are prewar by where the coupler would be.They came with no trucks or roofs but I bought them with the idea of restoring them.So if anybody knows anything I would appreciate the help. Thanks in advance

Jim

Jim, as Teledoc said the tip off is the 8 windows.  The construction of the stamping and the window insert tell us that this car was made in 20's and 30's.  The most numerous were the shorter 5 window version.  I have not seen anything to indicate that they were ever produced in chrome.  Are you sure it isn't the base metal polished?  Since these cars are 80 years old, it may have been refinished more than once in it's life.  I know of no pre-war passenger car carrying the number 1345, this may also be a clue to refinishing in its past.
