 Thanks for the reply. I don't think so as these cars are 9 3/8 inches long but what really puzzles me is the chrome plating unless it was put on aftermarket

DANR is correct with them being 610 Pullman cars.  The fact that the 610 is the only car, of any year, that has 8 windows, plus the door, number, and name plate inserts.  The KEY is the 8 windows, whereas no other passenger (Pullman) has 8 windows.  Plus the removable roofs.

Thanks for the reply but i'm still confused were there any that were chromed.Also the number on the one insert appears to be 1345 rubber stamped.Also I believe the 610 late body style cars were still only 71/2 inches long these cars are 9 inches long not counting the coupler.

manufacturers often bought stock metal in various finishes if it was a good deal.  on its way to chrome, steel can get copper or nickel plating or it could even be from chrome plating that wasn't up to spec.  as long as it eventually got painted, it didn't really matter.

Forget color, forget the length, the 8 windows makes it the 610, period.

Jim, as Teledoc said the tip off is the 8 windows.  The construction of the stamping and the window insert tell us that this car was made in 20's and 30's.  The most numerous were the shorter 5 window version.  I have not seen anything to indicate that they were ever produced in chrome.  Are you sure it isn't the base metal polished?  Since these cars are 80 years old, it may have been refinished more than once in it's life.  I know of no pre-war passenger car carrying the number 1345, this may also be a clue to refinishing in its past.
