I have modified this smoke unit by enlarging the fan hole, removing the sleeve that covered the wire wound resistor, and packing the chamber with a large wad of Tikki wick. Then liberally soaking the wick.

When I turn the unit on with AUX1 #9 with 18 volts on my Z-4000, the fan spins and the resistor warms up--but does not produce visible smoke. If I pulse #9  repeatedly, I get copious amounts of smoke. But when I stop holding #9 down, the smoke output wanes and dissapears. A short application of #9 brings it back--but only while the boost is on.

The unit has a version C07 R2LC. Is there a weak power supply on it?

Hope someone knows how to fix this.
