Two questions:

1. In the remote, where all the features are listed for activation, there is an "aux light". What does it do?

2. I have an earlier PS2 version that I put on the tracks for the first time after being on display for years. I did follow the lube instructions. It runs fine on straight track. When it goes into an 0-68 curve it may slow down or even stop. Then it may lurch ahead. What will fix this?

I have a PS/2 and PS/3 Aerotrain, AFAIK, the AUX LIGHT does nothing, it's not wired to anything.

Your issues on curves are a somewhat classic issue with the rear truck.  As you can see, it's an oddball arrangement.

#1: Make SURE the small wheels rotate freely is a must.  On my PS/3 version they seemed to be missing something and were binding.  I had to do some surgery to get them to freely rotate.

#2: The spring loaded balance of the rear truck is critical, if it's not right the small wheels will either climb out on curves, or they'll lift the larger wheels in curves.  Since the rear truck has the tach reader (another stupid design decision), if those wheels lift, they'll slip and spin, thus making the rig jerk and sometimes even stop.

I'm going to move the tach reader to the front motor in one and see if that smooths things out, just have to get the time to try that fix.

John,

Thank you.

I finally got the time to try your suggestions.

You hit the nail on the head.

I put four more drops of oil on the two small wheels and spent a few minutes rolling them back and forth and now they move freely.

And, the spring loaded balance of the rear truck needed to be adjusted (loosened the rear screw just slightly) and now it pivots freely.

I can't believe how great it works now. At both slow and high speeds...no problems at all. I pulled an 8 car Lionel 15 inch aluminum set with no problems. This is great.

Also, on my Aerotrain, the tach reader is on the front.

Thanks again John. Your help is priceless.
