I mentioned I was 'watching' two MTH Z4000's on the Trainz site, having them in my wish list. You may know that prices on some things at Trainz drops every 5 days or so if they don't sell. The price on both had dropped to $388, but a couple days ago I went back to check and they went up to over $550. I looked in the sold list and no one bought either one for 388, so wonder if after a while they reset the price back up? My desire to purchase one dropped after I found a great deal on a 275 watt ZW, but was continue watching those Z4000 to see how low they would go, guess 388 is it.

I saw a similar happening on another site; first listed for $400 and did not sell then a week or two later listed for $500????
I'm surprised they were that low, unless they were just in fair condition. Used I never see them go for less than $400 these days.
The new ones at Stockyard Express were (At least preordered) at 649.99 which is way better than the Trainworld price.
Another case of, if you snooze you loose. Past few months a number have sold for under 300 bucks. Now that the new ones are out with their new higher prices don’t expect any bargains in the future.

Trainz ain’t about to let you save $262 on the price of a Z4000; if you don’t want to pop for brand new @ $650, buy theirs used for $550. $100 is enough savings for Joe O Gauge. Buyers and sellers hold mutually exclusive positions.
I would have a lot of reservations buying a modern transformer used. I have several old ZW transformers that were refurbished and updated by CW trains that I purchased at much more reasonable prices and include the new breakers etc.
I am surprised they were that low at all, when you look at the prices of DCS and the Lionel Legacy sets they are over the top. I purchased my 990 set a year ago for $300 shipped, now everywhere they are not going any lower than $800.
I have a bunch of PH180 bricks, they work just fine, and the most I paid for any of them is $75.
I am with John on this one I have 8 ph180 and no problems. I Have run them up to 8amps and the hold voltage just fine.
