This year, as before, many companies will have ceremonies to honor Veterans. The CP continues this annual tradition when, at 11:01am ALL CP trains will stop and sound locomotive horn for 1 minute.

One wonders if any USA railroads have a similar program?

Years ago when as a Conductor on a CR (former Jersey Central) sand train to Lakehurst, NJ, we were passing a small town's Veteran's Day Remembrance at a trackside municipal park. It was nearly 11am and I reminded the engineer to stop our train as we would be blowing the horn for multiple road crossings during their ceremony. When stopped, entire head end crew stood on the locomotive platform during 'Taps'. Upon arrival at the sand pit, a trainmaster asked about why I stopped the train...he was following us by car...I explained and he understood.
