Just saw the The Hunger Games last night. I found it to be a very good movie. I have yet to read the books. There were a couple cool train shots. Here are some pics I found of a coal hopper from District 12. This part of the film was shot in shelby, NC.

 

I'd love to model this!

Sure beats the Polar Express; those cars NEED to be done. I'll buy a 6-car set.

 

I'm currently reading the book (like an hour ago I put it down for a while); haven't seen the movie, but I will. The book appeals to my sci-fi tastes, the imaginary world to my model RR sensibilities, and is written - so far - in an elegant, spare and "un-

hyperbolic" style. I know that it was intended for 14-year-old girls, but it turns out that

a lot of us 63-year-old men like a good, fast-moving yarn, too. The main character's

personality also reminds me of someone from my far-away past, minus the killing, dying and arrows, of course.
