Erie Railroad (CR, EMD) was key to economic development along the Southern Tier, which includes Binghamton and Elmira, N.Y. In 1851, Secretary of State Daniel Webster was strapped to a rocking chair on an open flatcar, wrapped in a blanket and clutching a bottle of rum, so he could ride the just-completed railroad.

How about we skip all that flatcar, rocking chair and blanket stuff and just have Lionel
and MTH (and so on) bring out their own lines of rum and other intoxicating liquors.
Then we wouldn't care if all those new bells and whistles worked anyway.
I can see the boxes: "For ages 21 to adult. Do not operate large steam locomotives
after using Old Joshua Rum..."

The bottles would probably fit in boxcar boxes. I'll drink to that. Wait! Functioning
tank cars...entire booze sets... Beer reefers? Feh!

Sigh.

Hw about a TankTrain with pipes that turn into straws?

Or, if that sounds gross, how about a TankTrain terminal with refrigerated storage tanks piped to a tap (or two)?

Or, if less jovial critics interfere, disguise the tap(s) as trackside water towers, storage tanks, or buildings with one or two SPECIAL downspouts that have just enough room for a mug underneath.

Excellent idea, although the liquor train tangents are also appealing.  I like the idea of animating the rocking chair.  Throw in a random appearance by the Devil and the appropriate voice-overs and I think you've got a winner there!
