I have a TMCC Railsounds equipped Atlas O Dash 8-32BW in Amtrak California paint scheme and would like to know how to remove the motors from the truck assembly. I have it to the point of the truck removed from the frame and the screw removed that holds the motor to the truck but it will not separate. Am I missing something! I have removed motors from MTH engines and it takes only a couple minutes. But Atlas felt the need to make this extra complex! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Paul

Check for additional screws on the top of the truck around the motor. K-line has a small screw just forward of the motor that prevents the motor from coming off.
Thanks for the replies.
PRR, there are no other visible screws. The setup looks identical to how MTH motors mount but it is no releasing. It is almost as if they were pressed together and a screw installed from the bottom for good measure.
JOE, nope no diagrams! I think it is the only locomotive that does not have a diagram.
There is a screw on the bottom of the truck block and another on the top of the block. The top screw is the same one holding the wiring attached to the block. This allows separation of the motor mount from the block. The motor itself can then be unscrewed from the motor mount.
Thank you Mr Dunn! I will try that. Don't remember seeing a screw on top (50 year old eyes!) but I will look again tonight.

Or try calling Atlas O service department. They're very helpful. (BTW, I'd love to have 50 year old eyes, and 50 year old everything else, too, for that matter.)
When you get it apart make sure you get the cross gear shaft and bearings back in correctly . They have a flat side to them and when you unscrew the truck and motor it comes loose , a crazy setup and will test your patience .

Sometimes they have clear shims under the flat spots. the shims tend to get lost. I don't envy anyone taking Atlas diesel motor trucks apart. What a PITA!
