I want to figure out if it's scale or not. Also, what version of railsounds does it have?

K-Line stuff tends to have RS 4.0. If it is scale the engine would say so on the box. I worked on one that sure looked pretty close to scale. Not sure about your specific model number. G
I have that exact locomotive. I don't believe it's true scale size, though it looks good with my 18" MTH Premier Daylight cars. It has RS4, K-Line cruise control, and fan driven smoke.
Its a semi scale loco. A scale daylight is 28" long, I believe the k line vesion is in the neighborhood of 24". If you get one and want passenger cars go with 15" ones. K line made a matching set. Mth may have offered some 15" sp cars as well, not sure.
Heres video (not mine) of the sounds, not bad except for the 1 chuff per revolution.
Sounds start at :20
Rick, does that one have fan driven smoke? Mine has fan driven smoke and multiple chuffs/rev. It's unfortunate that it's around three, but I think I can adjust that. Mine is 25" long exclusive of the coupler.
Thank you. It looks to me like it's scale but in the video it was hard to tell. Would have to see better pics in order for me to see clearly how much detail it has.
The engine looks scale length, the tender doesn't. Strange
Again, not scale. Heres a link to more detailed info when Lionel bought kline and reissued this loco.
Click on "features".
Having said that, I believe these are fairly detailed for "semi scale" models, probably about the same level as a Lionmaster loco.
They do have very good detailing, much better than many others. The late K-Line stuff was top-shelf, especially for the low prices they were getting.
I've looked on the bay and saw that were around $400. do you think that that is a good price.
P.S. Im also intrested in a k line dreyfuss video
I'm not sure about the price. This video (also not mine) has the K Line dreyfuss in it.
$400 sounds about like the going price for them, they are a very nice locomotive.
It's 89% of scale. It wasn't meant to be scale.
Does the engine require a battery for its railsounds 4?
Does anyone have one for sale? I missed one on ebay.
Battery is not required for Command operation, but it allows for continuity of sounds in conventional, and shutdown sounds in command when track power is turned off, or continuity if you have issues of lost power over switches etc... G
I don't normally run with a battery in command, though I have a couple of locomotives that seem more sensitive to track breaks and I use a battery in those.
