1 MTH 0 gauge (and further one live steam Aster in Gauge 1; a Rivarossi in N gauge and 3 h0 gauge (RivaRossi, Marklin, Monogram) makes a total of 6)
Interesting read, Thanks to all who participated.

Edit/Add:
But then there is this guy I know who has (10) Atlas SW9 with an eleventh one coming. Wonderful hobby

I thought I had one parked in an unused stall in the roundhouse, but when I looked this morning it wasn't there.Looked twice to be sure since they're pretty easy to overlook.
How about UP, NS, BNSF, CSX, ???
No interest in buying a $2k Chinese toy that seems to have sub-par build/reliability.
It says a lot that a big feature mentioned with the Lionel VL products is free shipping for service for the first two years . . . .
..............and your source of information is what??????
..............speaks well of Lionel that it would cover all costs to include shipping for a 2 year period. Sounds like they have a bit of faith in its reliability and build quality.
............. I have 2 bigboys, as I have mentioned above that are not pampered or are shelf queens that run very well.
.....I guess , I just donot understand why there seems so much resistance in praising this very hi tech, beautiful engine.
guess this post will take a few hits.........

2 - VL 4012 & 4014
I am blessed to have the Legacy Version 4024, and the VisionLine 4014, and both operate Perfectly (Knock on Wood) at this time. I had the new VL BB Tweaked for the Whistle Smoke and the Powerful Blow Down....They are both a WOW. Happy Railroading
I have one...a VL # 4012....
well I don't really have it right now at this minute... but it's on its way back home... does that count??
Zip... zilch... nada. For whatever the reason(s), the Big Boys have never done anything for me. Wouldn't typically even give them a second look. But Lionel certainly seemed to have no shortage of orders for them, so each to his own. And that's the way it should be.
Now ask about the Y-6b in a few months, and I'll give you a completely different answer! And with much better price/performance!!!
David
I have the same number that the N&W had on it's roster. NONE.
Gilly
I have two. Lionmaster and Kline.
George
1 Lionmaster
Doug N
I have one. The one K-Line made years ago that is smaller than O gauge. Closer to S. Others are too expensive. With my limited hobby budget I think I did REAL WELL with all I have though.
One - KLine Semi-scale.
Unless you have a giant layout,Big Boys are to big but that K-Line is perfect for for smaller layouts.
When I was running a hobby shop we ran one on an O-27 layout. It had to much overhang on the curves but it stayed on the track. The guys with small layouts loved them.
The Lionel Big Boy is not Lionel's only large steam locomotive. I purchased this engine, when it first came out from my LHS. Great sounds, Odyssey, Wireless Tether & much more.
There are over fifty Big Boy YT videos on You Tube, I can watch all these for free.
The two "K" looks better in my pocket.
Like I always say, leave it in the other guys septic tank. lol
1 JLC and 1 Lionmaster, plus 2 Trix HO.
Sure is a LOT of Negativity here though, but then I have exactly as many GG1s as the Union Pacific, NONE, or any other Pennsy locomotive.

I have 2
An AHM (Rivarossi) HO from the '70s with deep flanges.
And the S Gauge American Flyer by Lionel Biggest Boy. (The gussied-up K-Line Big Boy that Lionel made into an S Gauge item.) Over-sized, but I like it.
Zip. Not a UP fan.
I'm into switchers.
I have 2:
1 VL (#4012)
1 Lionmaster Legacy (#4011)

Now I have to agree with you ...that is going to be one hell of an engine!
It was tough deciding between those two... the Y-6b has long been a favorite along with the Big Boy and Challenger. Now that they have made it in Legacy the deals on the TMCC model have started to pop up. The whistle and sounds on that loco are so good I can't imagine how Legacy can improve beyond adding more speakers.......

Hopefully Lionel will get the "transition" from starting in simple, and then changing over to compound correct.
Sadly, NONE for two reasons: Lack of $2000, and a significant track curvature diameter (100 inches or better).
Do not like significant pilot overhang!
In any event, Lionel did a fine job with this engine!
I just bought my first one! VL Big Boy 4012. Plan to get the VL 4014 at the end of this month as well.
Zero
I have owned 2 sold them both. Getting 4014 from MTH 12/15. So the answer is one.
only plan on using straight tracks

Zero
Because you twisted my arm...
None.
My dad's old Lionel 2020 turbine is the biggest "boy" on the layout and he just barely fits! LOL
Did have an HO Big Boy once, an all plastic static model of one....
One RailKing, as I was convinced I'd never have room for an 072-only loco.
Then I became a homeowner and built my "test track", which was designed to accommodate my longest locomotive at the time, a DDA40X.
Then in 2013, with a distinct lack of things to look for at York, I unexpectedly acquired my first Premier articulated, BB#4014, most likely the same version Hot Water has.
So, 2. One RailKing, and one Premier. And hopefully I'll get to run one of them for the first time next weekend.
