Hello David 1.............
Well I been here in California for almost 60 years and never happen yet but I sure can swim can you ?

My health insurance has a special "wife discovers new train car" rider.
I love collecting box cars. They must be A. of a basic boxcar brown background, B. 40 feet in scale length, and C. Each of a different road name.

yes..The name of the new group would be called .. MOTT.. Men Operating Toy Trains...I'm sure the wife will like this... LOL
How many cattle cars can a man have?

"Holy Cow" That's a lot of beef !! LOL..
I have only a guestimate at 40 Boxcars And I'm fully aware that is not enough.
Still working on a Modular Layout for the BIG trains.
William 1 posted:Buy a real boxcar and park it in your backyard. Use it for storage. When you roll a door back and boxes start falling on the ground, it may be time to scale back. Just a suggestion. Have fun, BK
Now that's an idea I can get behind.
In my case, it isn't so much box cars (I do have quite a few of those too), but it's covered hoppers of various types. I have so many I'm losing count.

Doesn't TCA stand for Train Collectors Anonymous?
Gilly@N&W posted:When off the top of your head, you cannot respond "I have X Boxcars", I would say that is too many, When it comes to O gauge, I have too much. I couldn't pull an exact # for cabooses right now.
I guess by that standard, I'm in trouble. I lost count a long time ago. I'm to the point where I don't think it will all fit on the layout, and the layout is huge.
As for the wife, sometimes she eggs me on to buy more. She never gets mad, but she usually gets even.
The trouble is that you need at least one engine to pull every box car.

Bob, after reading all these comments I think we may have to use Yankee Stadium for the meetings! ! LOL

Or flowers to your local funeral home! ENJOY!

Bob,
I couldn't zoom in quite enough, but here's my thoughts:
I see 3 Shell tanker trailers on flat cars, but they only made 1. They made it with a black Santa Fe flat car. One of yours is a red flat car (which I previously posted a picture of). Can't quite tell what the other dark flat car is under the 3rd Shell tanker trailer.
I see 2 Quaker State Tank Cars (to left of Shell trucks), but they only made 1.
I see 2 C&NW Box Cars (to right of Shell trucks), one bright yellow one a softer yellow.
I see 2 flatcars with army tanks (to left of Quaker Tank cars).
I see 2 Menards Box Cars (below red Frisco Box Car).
Fun game.
Stu
Ok second guess, The Green BN and the car to the right on the top row, and the first 3 cars right to left on the second row down.

The prize is a cabinet, and will be awarded at the next meeting! LOL Really enjoy this thread! Thanks Bob!
How many boxcars can a man have? ...At least a dozen more than he has now.
Logan
Thanks to all who played this silly little game. It started out as a stupid little thread and grew from there. Congrats to NOT LIONELLLC for the correct answer . A Menards Army Flatcar, with a load, will be heading his way today.. Bob
Too much of a good thing is JUST ENOUGH. Goes for boxcars, I have to say I'm partial to 6464's. Have a lot of originals, and a bunch of the later Lionel repros that I'm running the wheels off.
Jim Waterman
Never met you, (my loss ), but you're a good man Bob! So what if you have this little addiction! LOL
This thread could become eternal flame, I just spotted empty shelf space !!
Just a rough count of MTH high cube 50 ft. box cars, 72 and of their all door box cars, 34. I do have a few standard 50 ft box cars but not any where close to what I have of the high cubes.
