Does anyone know how much smoke fluid--in milliliters--should be put into fan-driven smoke units (Legacy and Proto 3)?
Cheers!

15-20 DROPS
Unfortunately all manufacturers spec their smoke units by drops not milliliters. The best answer I can give is to put 15-20 drops in a measuring device and you'll have your answer.
If you're priming a dry smoke unit, I'd start with 0.25 to 0.5 ml and see what happens. Topoffs generally should be about 0.25 ml. Older type non fan-driven smoke should get about 0.25 ml max, in my experience.
Hope this helps!

Just bought a bunch of Lionel Premium Smoke fluid in Pine, Sugar Cookie, Chocolate, and Peppermint - all smell great but haven't used any yet. Pine is the strongest and my favorite. The dropper is graduated in .25ml increments. I counted 10 drops from .25ml and 20 drops from .50 ml. give or take a few drops.
To further add to the issue of Lionel smoke units, you may want to look at

However, I am no authority on the care and feeding of a Lionel smoke unit - 3 have failed on me so far or I have either starved them or over fed them.
What's a "milliliter"? Why isn't the number of "drops" sufficient?
It is okay. But if you read the post the original person asked for milliliters. Some people prefer to put the fluid in with a syringe versus the bottle.

Syringes are graduated in "milliliters"?!? I though liquor bottle are sized in "milliliters".

For the last year or so, Lionel’s various Premium smoke fluids have come with a dropper marked for quarters of a milliliter. (A full dropper is 1 milliliter.) Why not make use of this convenience? Adding a measure of smoke fluid in milliliters is less tedious than counting out drops.
I just give it a good squirt....
