Love that Santa Fe E6 Doug!!! A real beauty and running as an AB is especially nice.

Several years ago I painted these Williams Santa Fe's into the seldom seen 'Aspen Leaf' Rio Grande scheme. The small fuel tanks and undersized trucks always bothered me with the Williams PAs so I added material (balsa) to the fuel tanks to close the air gap underneath. The PA is a massive beast and now these have a better overall appearance.

This SOUTHERN E6 in the handsome 'Tuxedo' scheme started as a single Lionel Burlington E5 which, although very pretty, didn't quite fit with our locale. I spotted SR No 2800 in some photos of the Southern's early diesels and thought this would be nice instead.

I reworked the MTH UP Premier 3unit 8500GTEL locos to an extent after I got each one.  Since they sit low on the frames, it was time to jack 'em up a bit.  Used spacers betwixt the body shell mount studs and frames to get about 3/16" more height.  Also added material to the bottom and top of the pilots to get a more scale look.  The pilot grin also got filled to a degree along with a shorter shank front coupler.  A new wrapper was added under the anti-climber in front to match up with the new pilot treatment.  I moved the horn cluster to it's original position atop the cab roof.   With the #5 loco, I also subbed a Lionel 25C Turbine tender, as it was more accurate in many ways, than Mike's.  Some extra trim paint...and they are now GTG....as far as I can get 'em !

The whole set looks great! Mine have been sitting on the shelf for a year or so since I got them. I think you inspired me to get them out and start working on the project again.

Cheers,

This has to be one of the most colorful passenger service trains out there and I love it. We are far away from Albuquerque but like this train all the same.
