Nicole had a wonderful three rail layout and was a wonderful person. We would write back and forth because we were on about the same time zone. She always had kind words and really liked the Milwaukee Road. As far as I know, no one has been able to find out how or really when she passed. This was her last post to me.

Who could forget. She was a great influence on this forum and very knowledgeable.
She had been suffering from cancer and mentioned she was trying a last ditch effort for treatment before she stopped posting.
Her forum name stood for "Not Quite Dead Yet". Nicole was always positive and seldom mentioned her illness up until the end. It almost seemed a harsh name, but I think with Nicoles spirit, it was really her taking a somewhat lighthearted look at her health issues.
Alex M had attempted making contact with friends or family by mail with no luck.
However, later he DID end up making contact second hand through forum member St.Paul who had a friend that knew Nicole personally
Here's that thread:
I remember her well, was very sorry to hear of her passing back then.
actually contact was made with a friend of hers that she had left her phone to after passing and he is the one who let us know of her passing this was a shared endeavor with Alex M and myself just thinking of this and others that have succumbed to cancer saddens me.
I never personally chatted with Nicole but always enjoyed reading her posts.
Absolutely remember her... Very into the hobby.. Always sad when one of us passes.
I sure remember Nicole … very, very fondly. Such a genuinely sweet person. Always positive.
I never met you, Nicole, sure wish I could have … but I miss you.

Yes I remember her too. She was always very positive and provided help to many of us. She once said that waiting on her pre-orders was helping to keep her around waiting for them to come in. She was very knowledgeable about our hobby, a great person always willing to help others. It was very sad to learn of her passing and I think she is still missed around here. It saddens me when I see one of her old posts every so often while reading through an older thread.
We have lost quite a few folks over the last few of years, way too many! I'm sure hoping all the rest of you are going to be around here for quite a while longer yet.
I remember her. She was a great lady.
Anyone with a terminal disease (and really, isn't life itself terminal?) who utilizes the handle "N.Q.D.Y" is definitely the kind of person I would have enjoyed knowing personally. She is missed!
I too remember Nicole. The list of great members we have lost over the years on this Forum continues to grow. We have been blessed to know them.
I saved her last email for several years in my "IN" box. Like many here, I miss her. If she could have made it to York, she would have been a rock star. She had esophageal cancer like my Dad. I can assure you that is an ugly way to go. You're "lucky" if the pneumonia gets you.
I regard her as a close friend. We corresponded frequently, and she used to send me photos of travels she engaged in during the closing months of her long and difficult battle with cancer. I still think of her often and remember her fondly.
Yes, definitely! As others note above, we don't want to to lose any of our group, and was sorry to hear she had passed. She made the borders of this hobby seem a little wider.
I remember her mostly for her optimistic and positive attitude in spite of the terrible hand she had been dealt. May she ever rest in peace.
A very smart lady and such a sharing modeler. Always a touch of humor far beyond what I could muster in a similar situation. As with many others I admired her and immediately felt sadness when we first missed her posts.
I remember her very well. She always had a joy for this hobby and life in general. Rest in peace Nicole.
Absolutely do I remember her! Folks like her are what makes this forum great! It's a shame she was taken to soon. I find myself thinking of her and other forumites we've lost over the years rather frequently recently.

I was also saddened when it was determined that she had passed. But what saddened me even more as someone approaching his thrd year cancerversary is the loss of a brother or sister in their battle with this crappy disease.
Very sad. Always enjoyed Nicole’s posts.

I always read her posts with a great deal of delight. I only had the opportunity to interact with her on a couple of occasions on a couple of train related topics and there was always an unmistakable sweetness and gentleness about her. Those traits coupled with her unshakeable sense of humor made her an inspirational figure. I miss her.
Rest in peace, Nicole. Reading the cause of her death, reminded me of a study that was recently done in Iran, where they have the highest rate of esophageal cancer in the world. So I thought I should warn others. Here is what they found. They love their tea over there and like to drink it hot. They claim their cancer is coming from swallowing liquids hotter then 140 degrees. Since I also enjoy hot tea and coffee, this prompted me to take the temperature of my drinks for a few days to learn the feel of 140 degrees and to time how long it takes for the temp to come down to that before I drink it.
It is always easy to remember the positive way that Nicole expressed herself on this forum. While she lived in Holland, I believe that she was British. Bringing her female perspective to model railroading on this forum was refreshing. Her demeanor while fighting her disease should be an inspiration to us all. I always loved Nicole's sense of humor and outlook on life. May she R.I.P.
AFAIK, Nicole wasn't the only female model railroader that we have lost. Anyone remember Lisa and her layout? Little seems to be known about her but I do recall her posting pictures of her work..
I too remember Nicole's posts fondly. She had a great perspective and sense of humour in the face of adversity. We should all be so lucky. Live each day as if it was your last one. You just never know......

We should never forget the ones we have loved no matter how long it may be.

Nicole always had something to add if one of us had a problem with our trains and I always enjoyed reading her posts. She was very positive and upbeat.

I remember Nicole and her always fascinating posts. I wish that I could have met her in person.
The world lost a good one we will see her on the other side I am sure.
Sweet sweet Lady. Amen!

RIP Nicole...
Sad to hear of Nicole's passing, enjoyed reading her postings always civil, upbeat and kind. May God grant her eternal solitude and comfort.
