My understanding is that rather than just being able to address 9 trains as you can with a CAB-1, you will be able to address 99. Is this true, and if so, does this also hold true for all TMCC equipped engines, or just those going forward from 2013?

My understanding is that rather than just being able to address 9 trains as you can with a CAB-1, you will be able to address 99. Is this true, yes and if so, does this also hold true for all TMCC equipped engines, or just those going forward from 2013? I do not know that one
As a Beta "Lite" set tester, I have programmed 3 TMCC engines.
I have:
a WBB E7 with ERR Cruise Commander (road number 3039)
a 3rd Rail E7 with TMCC and Railsounds 4 (road number 3029)
a Legacy with Odyssey GP9 (road number 484)
I programmed each using the last 2 digits of their numbers with 0 problems.
Engines will still be 1-99
Trains will most likely be based on the Legacy system where Legacy Trains (all Legacy engines) will be 1-99, TMCC trains (all TMCC or combination of Legacy and TMCC) will still be 1-9.
This is an assumption based on the way Legacy operates and some information we got before.
1-9 is a limitation of the cab-1 and not tmcc. I believe that the original tmcc engines will handle 1-15 while post Legacy is 1-99 (tr, not eng). It's in the code and you could address the higher numbers using a computer interface instead of the CAB-1
Chuck,
ALL TMCC engines can be set to be engine 1 - 99. The limitation is the number of Trains, currently only 1 -9 (and possibly 0, though I've never tried it). I can keep at least 8 trains on the layout, so having only 9 numbers is cutting it close and kind of a pain in the neck when switching things around. What I'm not sure of is whether or not when CAB-1L comes out is if you will be able to program Trains 1-99 using older TMCC equipment. I guess I should approach Lionel about this, though sometimes they don't know themselves!
