Chris,
They look real good. A cheaper alternative to the comet cars. I would recommend it. What are you contemplating?

They all look fine. Blue Comet and State cars are 400 series. The 418 series cars with 6 axle trucks and even the 428 series with 4 axle trucks look fine.
Girard cars are as big as Blue Comet cars only shorter so they should look ok.

Take a look at the McCoy coaches toward the end of this video behind my Flyer steamer. These are the TTOS cars from the mid-late 70's. You can usually find the 4 car set, like new for under $120.00. Perfect price range for some cars to repaint. I have 2 sets, one to keep original and another for a future project. Paid $106.00 for one set and $99.00 for the other. Some of the other passenger cars can get a little pricey, but not these.

That's a good idea Steve. Your right; That is a good price point for a repaint. I have some McCoy cars I used for some circus cars and they worked pretty good and I modified a coupler like you did in the video and worked like a charm!

I took one set of my cars and only painted the roofs. What a difference. The black roofs will go with my 318 from the coal train set or my Flyer steamer. Not bad for 4 cars less than $100.00 total.
