How reliable are the new Lionel Shay Steam Effect Engines?

I just ordered a Lionel 6-84239 Western Maryland Shay tonight from a dealer who had been previously Sold OUT. The price was lower than competitors. I have been looking for reviews of the Shay steam engines and found one on Ebay that stated the buyer returned his new engine to his dealer who sold eight and had five returned to them for gear issues.

Did I miss seeing information about this on OGR Forum? I saw something about adjusting the gears as a solution, but that was all. Are there any tips on what I should expect when my new engine arrives?
