I wish to thank everybody in the OGR Forum for their running advice on operating vintage trains.
While trying to find out exactly how much was just the right amount of smoke fluid for a Marx 1666, I discovered the disastrous effects of too much.....oil covered and shorted out track!
So I took the whole lot of track apart, again, after my second cleaning in the sink and a dry-off in the oven, and reassembled using dielectric grease on every joiner and, more dramatically, threw away the single lock on and hard-wired four drops to the outer loop.
Immediate results! Now my 999 can run at a creep which is testament to the electrical continuity of the track.
Thank you, again, for all the members ongoing advice and comments!
Now I am ready to take the whole lot up, one more time, for roadbed and wiring the accessories and landscaping!
I look forward to the future advice of members regarding realistic snow.....any initial comments would be most welcome!
