I am trying to add a lionchief plus (with bluetooth) board to a chassis containing two tachless can motors. I have included a picture of the board.  I am not adding a smoke unit. My question is how to  wire the trans/remote switch and  the sound on/off switch to the board. I am using the std three prong switches.

So here is the problem. I documented a bunch of these boards, however there are also a bunch of different Lionchief Plus boards so you are going to have to be a lot more specific and your picture did not come through.

And, unless you specifically also got a Lionchief Plus board that was known to work tachless using back emf, (very few work this way) you then have to add tach sensor and flywheel to one of the motors.

I'll gladly try to help you but again, I absolutely have to know exactly what board you are using because there are tons of different variations, and also to know if that specific board even can work in your situation. Yes they can leave smoke unit unplugged and work,

Key point, the switches are normally open. In order to say select transformer conventional operation, the GND and Transformer remote pin get shorted together. So GND is common for the control switches, and then the 3 switches are normally open for smoke, sound, and remote/bluetooth to be functional. That makes testing easy as you don't need to plug in a switch harness,  just apply power to the board with the socket open circuit and that represents normal operation in LC+ bluetooth or remote mode.

This board is from this engine http://www.lionel.com/products...us-rs-3-101-6-84698/

This is why I said exact product number matters. I did a search for "GP7 Reading" and this is what came up 6-84110

https://www.lionelsupport.com/...Plus-GP7-619-6-84110

That is NOT a bluetooth enabled board, that is the earlier version that is RF remote pre-bluetooth.

It's pinouts will not match the diagrams I posted

This motor has a tachometer encoder flywheel and matching sensor

And the problem is, that engine needs and has a Tachometer on the motor. The only way I know to get those parts is order the whole $32 motor which oddly they are now leaving out of the parts lists?????

If I didn't know better, between them removing all listings of the LCP2 boards, and then this leaving a critical motor link off of parts breakdowns, I'd think they didn't want us knowing this how to transplant Lionchief parts into another loco.......

I just went back and looked and that Lionchief Plus NS GP38 diagram has been messed with and the one motor was copied and pasted where the original picture was. This suddenly isn't very cool anymore. https://www.lionelsupport.com/...uetooth-5642-6-84939

This isn't right, but I don't have this exact GP38 to tear down and take pictures- see what I mean about the copy and paste specific to the motor on the left side of the picture?

Again, I don't know what is going on, but that engine has the earlier style board in the that picture, and to my knowledge, that series of Lionchief Plus required tachometer motors, and yet we get into the parts listing, and other details, and they just make it look like it's tachless.

Also, the actual product link to the board for that engine has no picture of the board only, so we cannot validate the exact type.

All I'm getting at is somehow this information just seems way out of wack and I should never have linked that engine as a good example, it's not. If I made a mistake, I'm really sorry, not my intent.

Thanks Vernon . The board is for the gp7 reading diesel. the same board you sent the picture of. I do believe it does not have a tach reader.

Again, please check your original order and part number when you got that board from Lionel. Also, an actual picture.

If you try to run a board that the firmware is checking for a tachometer, it will run away full throttle because it's trying to achieve a motor rpm that never would get reported- because there is no sensor plugged in.

I disconnected the switch harness completely and the engine responded to both the remote and the app. Now i will try hooking up the speaker do i have to anything with the ground plug from that harness?

No, and an important note is that ground is not frame ground. Anything labeled ground on the output connectors or that switch connector is floating compared to frame ground. Any wire shorts to frame ground can blow that board up instantly.

Vernon i connected to the board  a speaker with a rating of 8ohm 1/2 watt and nada! i have left off the switching harness.

Show me a picture of the wires of the speaker connector.

Maybe this is a misunderstanding in wording but when I say the 2 outer pins of a 3 pin connector, I mean pin1, skip middle pin, then the other outer pin.

On the backside of the board is the silkscreen labels of what the pins are:

"When i use the app the engine moves fine and it indicates that i have hit the bell button ( turns blue)  any words of wisdom here??"

That's app side between you and your phone. Nothing I know of automagically turns on bell for the fun of it.
