I want to paint the interior and install people in three AMS On30 passenger cars (on right in below photo).
I found the six screws on the underbody that attach it to the main body and roof, however there is extremely little slack in the lighting wiring when they are separated.
How do I detach the roof from the body?
How do I unplug the wiring to separate the parts? I see some mini 2 prong connectors inside the coach but can't get to them with the roof on.

Did you ever figure it out? I bought one of these recently and it took a while to figure out how to take it apart. The roof is screwed on from the inside and the wires are very short. They pass through to the trucks. This means you must cut or desolder the wires to the trucks just to take the body apart.
What sadist designed this? 
Well, AMS says the car lighting is for DC. To convert the existing lighting or install new? Existing just requires 2 rectifiers...hopefully.
I just yanked the wiring out. Darned thing flickered too much and the RR I model never ran much passenger stuff at night anyway.
