I recently purchased a 2004 Williams NW-212 Switcher Locomotive (Reading) Cab #1512. I have never owned a Williams Loco before. It runs great, but it has a slight squeal / squeak that happens every now and then....like every 5 seconds.... Basically, it sounds DRY. Should I lubricate the gears from underneath? It has 2 motors.

Always lubricate; never over-lubricate. Put some grease on the gears. Any decent grease will do - automotive axle grease is very good if you have some in the garage.
Oil (not grease) the axles/bearings. Any light oil is good. 3-in-1, for example. Apply with a needle applicator - or a toothpick.
There is - or should be - heavy grease on each motor's worm/spur gear. It's probably OK; you will have to remove the motors from he trucks to do this. Not hard, but a bother; try that last.

Mobile 1 red grease is best, does not hurt plastic, has no effect with temp. Mobile 1 10W50 oil same I use in my truck. sticks to bearings does not run off. Every lionel, MTH and williams purchased on e bay first thing is pull the motor off and check the brass gear void area dig the old grease out esp the yellow Lionel grease. fill the cavity with grease rotate both brass gear and the motor shaft gear filling all spaces with grease. most likely will never have to do it again.

To grease the motor worm and worm gear you have to pull the motors from the trucks. Easy peasy. Remove the shell, remove the big phillips screw under truck while holding the motor. With the screw out pull out the motor and grease the gears. Axle bearings and spur gears can be done with a drop of oil.
