How to remove the shell on a Lionel 9305 | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

I want to remove the shell to replace the 2 cowboys that were painted, it looks like, by a young child. The problem is that I can’t find any screws to remove the shell. How does the shell get removed? I know it is from 1982 so I am assuming the plastic is brittle at this time. I tried Lionel’s site but couldn’t find it anywhere.

At first I could not see the screws because they blended in perfectly with the shell. Now that I see them I know what to do.
