I needed one gallon of very good quality white gloss paint ($40) and while I waiting to get it all shook up, I noticed two gallons of Behr "oops" paint under the counter. Each was a sort of sky-blue. $9.00 each. Voila! My background scenery paint requirements have been met! It pays to check out HomeDepot's "oops" cans. You might get a bargain. (In case it's a foreign concept where you live, when the store makes a mistake and mixes the wrong tint, they sell it at a deep discount.)

Hi Arthur,
Last year, I too picked up a gallon of latex paint at my local Home Depot also for $9. It was an 'oops' can and was the color of beach sand. I used it to paint the foam sitting on top of my plywood and for my carved foam mountains. It is labeled for use on masonry, stucco, and concrete. I found it to be slightly thicker than interior latex wall paint but I had no issue using it for my layout.
Here's a test piece I carved and painted. It was a great bargain!

Arthur the paint guy at a big box store told me that he could probably take a light colored can of oops paint and make it a darker color I wanted. He said he could scan the oops paint and his machine would te him how to get to the desired darker color.
At 9.00 a can you did good.
"oops" cans can be a real find!
When it came time to paint the train room I found ten 1 gallon cans of "oops". After separating the light colors from the darker colors then pouring them into two previously used 5 gallon Behrs paint cans the HD custom paint guy fiddled with the colors. He was able to get a light blue out of one batch and an off gray in the other bucket.
Had enough to do two train rooms.

I'm a big fan of oops paint. I always look for these little containers. Seems they range from .50 cents to a $1
I used all of these colors to paint this station.
