I always thought most of the soundsets were very accurate overall. I try not to bash any attempt. I am increasingly frustrated that I hear another brand (Locksound?) in DCC have a decent sounding turbo engine set and yet the MTH soundset still sounds like it's not turbo charged.

I have the older PS2 SD engines and figured MTH would improve. I got the PS3 version and it's still not there the way I expect to hear it. If it is there already, I may try and play it thru my sound system to see if it's just not being reproduced accurately?

I just put a newer 3/2 MTH SD45 on my 2 rail layout. It only has scale wheels installed so far. The rest is still 3 rail. It has been on the shelf waiting for full conversion.

I was pretty happy with the overall sounds. It doesn't have the very high pitched squeal or the deepest turbo sounds. It does have a good balance for what speaker is in there.

I was originally going by memory of an older PS2 (1 meg?) sound set that I put into a command upgraded USA Trains sd40-2.
