Idea on cleaning my 252 prewar flag stanchions.

Picked up a 252 shell and frame from a trains show.

Shells paint is too good to do a repaint but wanted to clean things up a bit without harming the existing paint.

Wanted to clean the 252 prewar flag stanchions.

Purchased a hole punch at the dollar store used blues masking tape and punched a hole in the tape to protect the paint around the stanchion when cleaning.

Use a piece of “0000” steel wool and cleaned the station.
(Like the “0000” as it does not leave scratches).

This could be done on any prewar engine standard of O gauge.
