As a fellow train guy I'm not going to miss this red carpet event a the lionel facility. i'm passing on York. york is great and plays an important role in our hobby but this is my opinion. Even though i live in Pa.,TCA does a fine job but the hotels rip us. its cheaper in the long run to go to NC this time. If the sale was anything like the one in early December you will come home way ahead of the game. I know I did.

whats your take

There is no way I can get to York, what with business and issues that keep me near home.  But I plan to be at the Lionel Red Carpet event, yet.  Assuming decent whether, I can drive to the Lionel facility in about 2.5 hours, by cutting through the back roads in central NC.

I will face a terrible dilemma: take my very trusty ifboring Chevy Volt which has  plenty of room for big Vision-loco and train set like boxes and be bored with the drive, or enjoy the twisty back roads there and back in my other car, which with my wife taking up the other seat (shepieces of rolling stock behind the seats and one small loco in the "trunk."  Oh - the sacrifices we have to make for this hobby!

I am really planning on going to this event. I use to work there in the area, and I want to visit some old friends that I use to work with. This train event is a great way to make me go back to NC. I am looking forward to meeting several of you while we are at the LIONEL facility.

This will be a very enjoyable weekend.....even though it is a 1,000 mile drive one way.

yo guys i just heard about some of the deals at the red carpet event. i'm spending my money in NC. You WILL NOT find deals like this at York. your money will go a long way. the two winners here are you and lionel. If dealers don't go shame on them.

just belong to the lcca is the requirement. LIONEL has said this is an exclusive for the guys who bleed orange and blue.
