In Search Of 1:48 Tractor Trailers

K-line made some o scale tractor trailer sets.I have seen them often on ebay.

Are they 1:48? K-Line also made vehicles sold under their name that are 1/32. You can't assume they are 1/48 just because it says K-Line.

First Gear has a line of 1/50th tractor trailers that are pretty close.

K-line had TOFC tractor trailer sets that went with flat cars, I've Alaska RR and a Coca Cola.  They are either 1:48 or 1:43, definitely not 1:32.

The K-Line trailer are 1:48 but scale out to 38 ft in length. Pecos River Brass sold back in the 80's a scale 40' trailer that looked like a K-Line trailer right down to similar wheels and hubs and oversized kingpin.

Currently Lionel 40' trailers are only 37.5' in length but are scale 1:48 

Tonkin makes some nice trucks in 1/50. Smaller than 1/48, but pretty close.

Thanks. That made me feel much better about my Lionel tractor and trailer

At this point it is my plan to forget using the Dehanes tractor. But it's trailer will do for a spot at the Morrison Door Factory (with a repainting). And I might grab another Lionel tractor trailer.

I think Ertl trucks are about as good as you can get without breaking the bank.

Revell made some 1:48 truck kits back in the late 50's.  At least one kit was rerun in the late 80's (I believe).  Occasionally you come across these at shows.
