A local tourist railroad (Batten Kill Railroad) used some former DL&W Phoebe Snow smooth-side coaches for a tourist train they ran in the 1980s. I am putting together a scale model of the train and would like to purchase a pair of them. Because the prototype coaches were smooth-sided most O scale options won't work and look out of place. Finding a pair will probably be impossible because most collectors will only want to sell them as sets, and I only need the coaches.

I believe K-Line made some but I don't know item numbers or their length (16" / 18" / 21"). Maybe Lionel too.

Are there any DL&W fans on this forum who can post item numbers and pictures for these coaches as made in O scale? At least that will help me put together a list of options. Thanks.

Here is the Phoebe Snow specific K-Line info:

K-4638A   Lackawanna Phoebe Snow 5-PAC (15")      $499.95 each

Improve the appearance of any layout with the striking grey, maroon and yellow paint scheme of the Lackawanna passenger livery. These all-metal passenger cars feature an unheard of level of detailing including opening doors, separate metal grab rails, full interiors and overhead StreamLighting® illumination.

We reproduced the real 72 foot Lackawanna passenger cars in shortened O Scale (15 inches), in order to give train operators all the detail of Scale while keeping the smaller layouts in mind. The 15 inch metal cars smoothly negotiate 31 inch diameter curves, which is sure to make them a favorite on many a tight bend. Each passenger car has a unique interior specific to that car's body style. For example the tables, chairs and place settings are clearly visible as the Diner car passes by on the track.
