Info. on York TCA box cars.

Hi John:

 

The wording of your question suggests that you are looking for data on the cars that MTH issued at the the TCA York show for the past several years. While I don't have any info on these cars, I'm sure several Forum folks will help out.

 

These cars WERE NOT issued or commissioned by TCA but were a MTH promotion.

 

As far as I remember, only 1 car was issued by TCA -- a 40th York Meet car put out by the Eastern Division.

 

If you want to collect York related cars, you might want to look for the series of cars issued by OGR magazine in connection with trips that the magazine ran from the York Meet to the Weaver Factory and to MTH Headquarters. This series --which ended last October -- included several car types and in less than 150 quanties. I have a few of the OGR cars and they look good.

 

In addition, K-line gave away cars at a couple of York meets.

I have the first car offered at York by MTH and the last York tour of Tony Lash's layout for sale. Both are on the Buy Sell Board if you interested. At least you can see what those 2 looked like.

They might not be worth collecting if you are looking to resell for big bucks.

 

On the other hand, they would be worth collecting for some who like the cars.

If you go to MTH's web site and search "TCA York Box Car", you will get a list that includes most, if not all, of the York specials (including some of the special OGR York tour cars).
