I met up with Lynn in Saxonburg, motored to Mercer Junction to visit with Dave (King Mouse) and later met the Greenville Club at their layout.
The Mercer Junction layout is outstanding! If you haven't made the trip....you really should make the effort. We met a modeler from Canada who stopped in!
I got to see Dave's home layout which was featured in a recent issue of OGR. I was again, amazed. The yard....steel mill....backdrop....detailed scenery.....hand crafted buildings....trestle.....wow....I could go on!
Lynn then took me to visit one of the most impressive home/club layouts I've ever visited. The Greenville Guys treated me to an evening of prototypical operating on a fantastic layout. The snacks were great, and Frank provided all with my favorite dessert.....strawberry shortcake!
Just when I started to withdraw from sensory over-stimulation.....we drove Chet home to see his "toys". I was very taken with Chet's 1950s Soda Shoppe...his hot rods....and his auto body/ custom car business! The 442 and the Ford Fairlane hardtop/convertible took me back a few years!
So.....I came home inspired to add an operating yard to my layout. I think I've figured out way to add this by picking up on Dave's creation.
It was a great way to spend some time with some really great modelers. Thanks to all! Tom
