Thanks to Bill for all his help, yes there were a few emails! It runs smooth as silk and actually was pretty easy to do, with help. Hardest part is getting all the wiring tucked back in as I still don't have the shell back on. I got to the point last night where I knew I should just stop for the evening!!
Sitting here with a big cup of coffee and a bag of wire ties. I will get the shell back on!!!

What does the Cruse M do for you ?

Bruce - In my case the magnetic encoder ring on the flywheel cracked and came off. Apparently that ring is a known service issue.
I had two choices, new ring or Cruise upgrade. The Cruise upgrade eliminated future ring issues.
I should also add that when the ring cracked and came off, the train took off like a bat out of h.... I was able to stop it before it went flying!
Boxcar Bill has guided me through some electronic installs...patiently I might add. I buy all my electronic upgrade items from Bill. Super prices, super service, super helpful. Be sure to buy some SMU Lionel brand from Bill when your buying parts. Cheap and for me it works better than anything else I've tried, much harder to char.
Im planning to install a AC Cruise commander I bought from Bill in my USA made Lionel Trainmaster with dual AC motors. First one of these I am installing, I hope I can go solo but if not Bill will set me straight.

Probably a majority of TMCC locomotives do not have cruise.

I'll second that! Bill is amazing to work with. I felt like I was becoming a royal pita. Now with one under my belt I should do better on the next!

In today,s electronics one of my toughest jobs is "wire management". I usually take pictures of the wire runs as they are before I start modifications and refer back to them when I am trying to "stuff" them all back in.
Cape Cod - Stuff is really the appropriate term!!
