I recently bought part of an estate of trains.  I have been going through them and have found a few very interesting pieces so far.

I found 2 Scale Craft kits that are dated on the box ends.  One is 1/6/42 and the other 12/11/42. Not even a month after the bombing of Pearl Harbor.  Both of these kits are pristine and can only imagine they look like they did in 1942.  Crazy they have survived in like new condition.  There aren't even any rips or tares in the boxes.

The other was a Quality Craft Kit #524 (well hole flat car).  What I found interesting was a note found inside the box from the Desk of Bob Weaver.  It Reads:

"To: VA Klein,

Enclosed are some side ribs for the #524 kit, the end (style/type) are not brass, but are from the flat ware provided in the kit.

The ribs kept coming off so asked for replacements."

I have seen notes like this in kits before, but I really enjoy seeing them and knowing customer service was much better back then than it is now!

I hope you found this interesting...if not it's OK.  Thanks for looking.
