Had a few friends over today to run trains(Dave_C and Stickpilot). and I was running my diesel lashup on the inside mainline controlled by fixed output #2 of the TIU. I started having signal issues and no matter what engine I tried on the inside track all I was getting was a signal strength of 1, errors galore. OK, what the freak, do I have a TIU failure here(Rev L.). All of the other TIU outputs all have 10's across the board.
Turns out I was also running a few TMCC engines on the same track and by the process of elimination the culprit turned out to be a Weaver B&M pacific with ERR cruise commander. Ok, thank God I don't have a TIU failure. So I pop the tender shell and install a choke on the power input of the cruise commander and problem solved. Engine no longer kills the DCS signal. Now I normally out of habit install the choke when ever I do ERR upgrade, so I've never see this. Being a Weaver engine with no choke from the factory this is the first one.
Now the question is. I thought and maybe thought wrong but the Rev L TIU which on my layout has 100% signal improvement over my Rev G TIU, that the TMCC interference issues was a thing of the past? Is the cruise commander known to cause this? Anyway an easy fix on my end, I have a ton of the chokes for future upgrades so I shouldn't see this again unless a friend brings over a engine that has not been modified with the choke.
