Hi,

Just joined the forum and wanted to introduce myself.  I grew up in Philadelphia and Lionel trains were always a big part of the Holidays and the decorations.  We moved to Texas and my trains came with me.  Married a Southern Gal and model trains were toys for the garage so they were put up and finally sold since I figured they's never see light again.  Well, it's now come full circle.  We started a little over a year ago and combined Lionel Trains (Polar Express) with Lego buildings on a 4' x 8' platform.  Our first attempt is in a youtube below.

Halloween was approaching and my wife wanted a Halloween Train (Lionel Peanuts Great Pumpkin) and a Zombie trolly.  That video is below.

We have since added the Hogwarts Express and K-Line 1603 Texas Special set with a K-2152 Alco Diesel. So comes the question, It doesn't appear to have sound...  Is that correct?  I've read the posts about adding ElectricRR sound board, is that the way to get sound?

Thanks,

EddieZ

PS:  We are talking about expanding our layout to an 8' x 8'.  Attached is a sketch of the idea.  The 10" x 10" squares are placement for the Lego modular buildings.

Welcome Eddie-

I too did some looking, including a book I have on K-LINE. The set you have is an un-cataloged set produced in 1996. It should not have any sound or horn.  It quite possibly was produced in limited quantities for hobby retailers. I did see that it was sold by Wm K Walthers at one time, but is now sold out.

EddieZ,

You might want to consider the new RTR Lionel Santa Christmas Train in one of the other posts here on the OGR also.  As SantaFeJim says Christmas is the best time to enjoy your trains, especially Christmas trains.  I have a Christmas Box Car Train that has about 40 Cars, I try to add a Box Car each Christmas season, and I am thinking about investing in the new Hall Mark Lionel RTR Santa Train myself.
